WRC te Werve Rugby Union Football Club

WRC Te Werve is a rugby club rooted in Westland, Rijswijk and The Hague. We connect young and old, locals and expats across these municipalities. We have teams in all divisions of rugby club life. You are welcome here, from Gup to Senior. We regularly meet in our welcoming clubhouse — the oldest clubhouse in South Holland — where our rugby history can be felt everywhere.

1922-2025

Our history

Te Werve RUFC

In 1922 the Bataafsche Petroleum Maatschappij purchased the Te Werve Estate in Rijswijk and set it up as a sports and recreation centre for its staff. Rugby was played here from 1953. Ten years later, Te Werve RFC (with many expats) became champions of the Netherlands. When Shell ceased its sports activities at the end of the last century and sold the estate, the rugby section relocated to The Hague South-West.

Westland Rugby Club

In April 1967 our other predecessor was founded: the Wateringse Rugby Club, better known (and notorious) as KMD Rugby. Due to municipal reorganisations and housing plans, the club — by then WRC Haaglanden — moved to its current location on Beresteinlaan in The Hague.

WRC Te Werve RUFC

In May 2014 both clubs merged as WRC Te Werve. A small, social rugby club focused on Westland, Rijswijk and The Hague and the expats in these municipalities. A club where fun and love of rugby take centre stage. In the coming years we aim to grow into a stable club with our own representation in every youth category.
